Armin Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Armin — the spaced-repetition flashcard app at armincards.app, its mobile apps, and its MCP server and companion plugins for study assistants — is operated by an individual developer based in Colombia ("we", "us", "Armin"). These terms are the deal between us and you. Plain reading is intended.
1. Who we are
No corporation. One person builds, runs, and supports Armin. Contact: support@armincards.app. Where these terms say "we act", a single human makes it happen; the rights and duties in these terms bind that person directly.
2. What Armin is
- The web app where you create libraries, decks, and cards, review them, and export your data.
- The mobile app for studying on the same account.
- The MCP server and companion plugin that let AI study assistants — Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code — help with card authoring and reviews. These apps act only under your control and only with your authorization.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 (and 16 where your jurisdiction requires it). This is a consumer product; we don't issue or manage school/classroom accounts.
- One account per person, a valid email you control, and email verification before writing study data.
- You keep your credentials safe. Anything done through your account counts as you doing it. Tell us immediately at support@armincards.app if you think someone else is using your account.
- You can delete your account at any time; deletion is immediate and full (see the Privacy Policy for what that means).
4. What is yours — your content
Your libraries, decks, cards, review records, and images are yours. We claim no ownership. You give us only the license we strictly need to run the service: store, back up, serve to you and your connected apps, and export it. That license ends with your account.
We do not train AI or other models on your content or your account data, and we don't sell it or hand it to anyone who wants to.
5. What is ours — the service
The Armin software, design, and brand belong to their creators (we publish much of the code as open source under its own licenses — those licenses, not these terms, govern that code). Nothing in these terms gives you our name, logo, or branding to imply endorsement.
6. Connecting AI assistants
You are always in charge:
- Connecting requires your explicit consent, scoped to your active library.
- Your accounts stay yours. The connected app does not get your password.
- You alone decide what your assistant sends to its own AI provider (e.g. what you paste into a Claude or ChatGPT conversation). Armin does not transact with Anthropic or OpenAI on your behalf.
- Revoke access anytime from your account; we invalidate the grant immediately.
We also apply our own limits to connected apps (they act through our server, not straight into the database), and we may block a client that abuses the service.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Armin to:
- Break the law or infringe anyone's rights in the cards or images you upload;
- Attack the service (overload, scraping beyond normal use, probing for vulnerabilities you then exploit);
- Share one account among several people, or sell accounts;
- Upload content showing or involving minors sexually, or content that is otherwise unlawful where made available;
- Harass or defraud other people through the service;
- Circumvent account limits or rate limits, or connect unauthorized apps.
If you break these, we may limit, suspend, or delete the account involved, with a notice where it's reasonable.
Armin is free. If paid features arrive later, they will be opt-in, priced and described before you're charged, and cancelable — never a silent charge to an existing free account.
8. Availability
A free service from one person, run on rented infrastructure. We work hard to keep it up, but we don't promise any particular uptime, that a feature will exist forever, or that updates will never change behavior. For material subtraction of features we aim to give advance notice and to keep export working so you can take your data somewhere else. You keep the ZIP export as your safety net.
9. Disclaimers
Armin is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. In particular:
- Study-scheduling predictions (FSRS) are estimates, not guarantees of recall.
- We don't check, endorse, or warranty against error the content of any cards, whether you wrote them or a connected AI app helped; check AI-generated cards against reliable sources before trusting them (especially exam prep or safety-related material).
Some countries give consumers warranties that cannot be disclaimed. Where you live, nothing in these terms takes those away.
10. Liability
To the greatest extent the law allows: our total liability for any claim in connection with Armin is limited to the greater of (a) any amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (today, effectively zero, because Armin is free) or (b) USD 20. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect/consequential damages — but note: (1) that does not limit liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, for personal injury, or anything else the law doesn't allow limiting; and (2) if your home law instead imposes mandatory liability rules, those rules win.
If you lose data because you skipped the export and backup options the app gives you, that is on you; the ZIP export exists for a reason.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop any time: delete your account, or just stop using Armin. We can end these terms for a specific account as described in §7. If we end your account, you keep access to an export up to the moment access ended.
12. Governing law and disputes
- The laws of Colombia govern these terms (without regard to conflict rules).
- Disputes go to the courts of Colombia.
- If you are a consumer living in the EU, the UK, or another country whose law gives you the right to sue at home, keep your home-country protections, and these terms do not block that right.
- Please try emailing support@armincards.app first; most things can be fixed by talking.
13. Changes to these terms
We'll post updates here with a new date and, if a change is material, notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Changes are not retroactive. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the update; if you don't, delete your account (the export button stays yours).
